RIH Foundation | Gaglardi Family Gift Announcement

On November 3rd, the RIH Foundation announced a transformational gift of $15 million from the Phil & Jennie Gaglardi Foundation to support the Together We Rise campaign and inspire community giving.

This gift is the largest-ever donation received by the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, and will allow our hospital to reach heights never imagined. The equipment and programs Royal Inland Hospital will be able to offer because of this gift, will mean not only exceptional patient care, but the ability to attract new physicians and staff to both our hospital and our city.

Thank you to the Gaglardi Family, for loving our community as much as we do.

BC Wildlife Park | Robert The Bobcat

Happy #Caturday - Here's a video of Robert the Bobcat to make you smile.

My entire career, I have worked on honing the questions, skills, tips and tricks that help me connect with the subjects of my videos to document their stories, capture their emotion, and share it with the world…this is my passion.

Do you know where all that hard work does NOT pay off? Animals. They tend not to listen, they don't repeat actions for me, and unfortunately I can never seem to get them to tell their story

In our industry, they say “never work with animals”, but I have truly enjoyed finding a way to share their stories and why being at the BC Wildlife Park is beneficial for them.

Did you know that the majority of the animals at the BC Wildlife Park are there because they are no longer able to live in the wild? This not-for-profit organization is a rehabilitation centre for orphaned and injured wildlife. Please be sure to head to the park to visit and support the animals that live there!

In support of the New Patient Care Tower at the Royal Inland Hospital, Shane and Andrea Doan have been named Honorary Chairs of the 'Together We Rise' campaign, to assist the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation in achieving its $35-million fundraising goal

We hope you enjoy watching this announcement video we created, and learning more about the Doans and their love for Kamloops!

TCSC | Remote Coaching

Another video from the series we are working on with TCSC Kamloops!!

Tournament Capital Strength & Conditioning (TCSC) offers remote coaching. What does this mean? You can do it from the comfort of your own home, or your own home gym!

Whether you have a few weights and bands, or a full home gym, the TCSC team will customize a program just for you, using the equipment you have.

SMART Options | Vincent's Story

We were lucky enough to partner with Pepper - Your Business BFF on this promotional video for SMART Options Inc.

Smart Options is a government funded supportive employment agency that supports employers in hiring job seekers with developmental disabilities.

While it was great to partner with our friends at Pepper and promote such a wonderful local organization, the best part of this project by far was getting to know Vince and telling his inspiring story.

TCSC | Youth Fitness Program

This promo video is part of a series we are working on with Tournament Capital Strength & Conditioning.

The TCSC Youth Fitness Program is designed to introduce kids to the gym and improving their fitness early on, to ensure they have the tools to stay fit and healthy into adulthood.

The main goal of this this video was to capture the happiness of the kids training, but if I'm being honest there wasn't a lot of smiling going on during the workouts . However, the smiles that followed when they finished their workout, shattered a PR, or completed an exercise they previously weren't able to do were definitely worth capturing!

ACRES RECRUITMENT VIDEO

We create several recruitment videos for BC businesses each year, and our main goal is to make viewers feel as though they want to work for the company (even if it's not part of the industry they currently work in!). How do we do this? We start by collecting genuine stories from real employees, who are passionate about what they do.

Creating this recruitment video for Acres Enterprises Ltd. was a truly fun experience. Not only do we love working with the Acres team, we also got the chance to capture b-roll on a live construction site! There's so much going on on-site that makes for great b-roll, AND we were able to get some really nice aerials of a building being constructed by Acres in Merritt (we all know I love the chance to fly my drone!).

Everyone we spoke to seemed to really love working for this company, and we think it really shows in the video. If this doesn't make you want to work for Acres, I don't know what will!

Return to Sport | Hockey

So far, we've shared the soccer, multi-sport, slo-pitch and baseball videos created as part of the ‘Return to Sport’ Campaign, and now - we FINALLY add Hockey to the series!!

Return to Sport is a project we've been working on with Tourism Kamloops and the City of Kamloops to welcome both athletes and spectators back to Canada's Tournament Capital

Believe me sports tourists - Kamloops can't WAIT to have you back!

Morelli-Chertkow Lawyers | Promotional Video

Not only did we have the pleasure of collaborating with Fresh Inc. on this promo video for Morelli Chertkow LLP - it was also such a pleasure to work with the lawyers and staff at Morelli. You can tell by talking to anyone who is part of this firm, that they have so much vested interest and passion for this company and the areas of law they specialize in.

This was my first time creating a series of videos for a law firm and I learned so much about the industry, which is truly what I love about my job! I am constantly working with new businesses and getting to know the ins and outs of different industries, which is the exact reason I became a videographer.

Haley's Story | BC Transit

Meet Haley, Kamloops Resident and Urban Systems Ltd. employee.

When Haley began working from the office again in June of 2020, she made the decision to start taking public transit to and from work - it was free at the time, so why not try it out?!

Turns out, she loves it! Not only is she saving around $2,000 a year not paying for parking and gas for her commute, she has also made great connections while strolling through her neighbourhood and with the drivers on her route. Plus, the spare time while riding the bus allows her some downtime to relax and catch up on her digital life.

This video is part of a series we’ve been working on with BC Transit and City of Kamloops, as a means of encouraging the Kamloops community to take public transit and view it in a new, more positive light.

Mel's Story | BC Transit

Meet Mel (what a Gem!)

Mel lives with a rare genetic condition known as Retinitis Pigmentosa, so he only has between 2-5% eyesight. Despite this, he volunteers at the Mount Paul Community Food Centre several times a week, helping the staff to prepare food and meals for members of the Kamloops community who need them most. Public transit allows Mel the ability to travel to and from this volunteer position on his own, providing him with invaluable freedom and independence.

Mel’s story is just one of a series of videos we are working on for the ‘Stories of Transit’ project with the City of Kamloops and BC Transit - a campaign which we hope will encourage the Kamloops community to look at public transit in a new/positive light, and hopefully integrate it into their own lives, as a means of traveling around the city

Return to Sport | Slo-pitch

We've shared the Soccer and Compilation Sport videos as part of the Return to Sport Campaign, and now we're adding the slo-pitch video to the series!!!

Return to Sport is a project we have been working on with Tourism Kamloops and the City of Kamloops to welcome both athletes and spectators back to Canada's Tournament Capital

#staytuned - we'll be featuring more vignettes soon!

RETURN TO SPORT | SOCCER

Return to Sport is a project we have been working on with Tourism Kamloops and City of Kamloops to welcome both athletes and spectators back to Canada's Tournament Capital, as soon as it is safe to do so.

#staytuned - we'll be featuring more vignettes soon!

Marcy Garcia | RIH Grateful Patient

"Something didn't quite seem right, and I ended up at the hospital in Merritt at 32 weeks pregnant. While I was there, my water broke..."

This is the #gratefulpatient story of Marcy Garcia, who's high-risk pregnancy and premature labour brought the RIH Neonatal Team all the way from Kamloops to Merritt and back, in order to ensure the safe delivery of her son Chase. You may also recognize Marcy and baby Chase from the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation 'Together We Rise' campaign video we shared recently.

Thank you to all the staff at Royal Inland Hospital and BC Ambulance Service, who assisted Marcy in bringing baby Chase into this world safely and soundly #healthcareheroes

Russ Hobbs | RIH Grateful Patient

"Ribs 1-8 are broken in 3 places or more, 3-7 are broken in 2 places or more, you've got a punctured lung and a broken sternum - we're going to have to send you over to RIH."

These are some of the injuries that brought Russ Hobbs to the ICU at Royal Inland Hospital. You may recognize Russ in this video, as he also features in the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation 'Together We Rise' campaign video we shared recently. This film dives further into his grateful patient story.

To Nurses Everywhere - National Nursing Week is over, but we see your hard work and dedication to our community all year long, and we appreciate you beyond measure. Thank you for all that you do.

RIH Together We Rise Campaign

A few weeks ago we shared some behind the scenes content from a project we’ve been working on with the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation - and here it is! This video is part of the RIH Foundation 'Together We Rise' campaign, in support of the hospital's new patient care tower.

An interesting element to this video is the fact we used real patients and healthcare workers, rather than actors. In addition, we’ve created short films about two of the patients featured in this video, and we’ll be sharing their stories with you over the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Kamloops Wastewater Treatment Centre

Happy #earthday

The City of Kamloops Wastewater Treatment plant receives enough wastewater to fill 12 Olympic size swimming pools every day. The water is treated and reclaimed in our city’s state of the art facility and used for non-food crop irrigation, golf course irrigation and wildfire suppression.

This video we worked on with the City a few years ago, outlines the whole process from start to finish!

SOHS ADDICTION STORY | ROCKER BRADY

TW (Trigger Warning): this video contains graphic scenes depicting drug use and addiction, which may be traumatic for some viewers.

This is the first of two films we created for St'at'imc Outreach Health Services in conjunction with the Lillooet Tribal Council. The purpose of this project is to educate and inform young people about the possible causes and dangers associated with drug and alcohol addiction.

We are in awe of the courage and strength Rocker Brady exhibited while sharing his story for this project. Telling one’s personal story is never easy, especially when it involves revisiting traumatic events or memories from the past. We are so proud of Rocker for putting himself in this vulnerable position, because ultimately his story may help or possibly save someone’s life.

BEHIND THE SCENES | RIH TOWER CAMPAIGN PROJECT

A couple of behind the scenes snaps of us working on an exciting project with the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation that we'll be sharing with you later this month - Stay tuned!

Note my beloved 'sherpa' Kathleen Fisher Photography has upgraded from pulling my equipment around for me, to pulling ME around so I can get those smooth "dolly" shots...what would I do without her?!
